Project Transparency Posts New Financial Disclosure Forms of New Orleans Public Officals

Project Transparency, a program run by Louisiana Justice Institute, has posted 2009 and 2010 financial disclosure forms for many members of our city government, including the mayor, city council members, city attorney, police superintendent, and several key mayoral staff. The documents are available at this link.

Project Transparency was launched by LJI in October of 2008. We did this because access to information, especially about our government and its activities, is a crucial part of citizenship, and it is a human right. Members of the public demand access to unclassified documents their tax dollars have been used to produce.

Ms. Washington, you should be commended for doing this, what no one else does. Following up on the law to see what these public servants really do, own and have interests in. Our media fails to do this.

Please see Aaron Broussard in jefferson Parish - his administration quickly folded when the excellent Val Bracy of Ch. 8 WVUE interviewed him directly re: his ownership ineterests in properties in Nova Scotia. Broussard is under federal investigation to this day and faces indictment for a number of things.

HOWEVER, as much as it is awesome you do this here in Orleans, you fail to follow up.

Primarily, most of these councilmembers and officials, if not all of them (?) fail to properly reveal all of their property and stock and other ownership interests.

fro example - Ms. Jolivette Brown reports "stock options" - BUT WHICH STOCKS? Local companies? National companies? Anything causing a conflict of interest? WHO KNOWS. Call her out on it.

Also compare this The Lens report on Councilman Johnson....

...with his disclosure report.

Consider just these ownership ineterests almost all or all of which are NOT shown on his disclosure form:

"JOHNSON, JON D. Member of “JOHNSON RESTAURANTS, L.L.C.” NEW ORLEANS
JOHNSON, JON D. Member of “PROMED SERVICES, LLC” NEW ORLEANS JOHNSON, JON D. Director of “ADVANCE FINANCIAL SERVICES, INC.” NEW ORLEANS
JOHNSON, JON D. Director of “ACCURATE FINANCIAL SERVICES INC.” NEW ORLEANS
JOHNSON, JON D. Director of “JOHNSON & JOHNSON COMMODITIES, INC.” NEW ORLEANS
JOHNSON, JON D. Director of “JOHNSON OIL COMPANY, INC.” NEW ORLEANS
JOHNSON, JON D. Agent of “LOWER NINTH WARD YOUTH DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION, INC.” NEW ORLEANS
JOHNSON, JON D. Agent of “THE LOUISIANA COUNCIL ON BLACK ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, INC.” NEW ORLEANS
JOHNSON, JON D. Agent of “THE NEW ORLEANS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, INC.” NEW ORLEANS
JOHNSON, JON D. Agent of “JOHNSON FOODS AND RESTAURANTS, L.L.C.” NEW ORLEANS
JOHNSON, JON D. Agent of “JOHNSON RESTAURANTS, L.L.C.” NEW ORLEANS
JOHNSON, JON D. Agent of “PROMED SERVICES, LLC” NEW ORLEANS
JOHNSON, JON D. Agent of “JOHNSON & JOHNSON COMMODITIES, INC.” NEW ORLEANS
JOHNSON, JON D. Agent of “JOHNSON OIL COMPANY, INC.” NEW ORLEANS
JOHNSON, JON D. Director of “THE LOUISIANA COUNCIL ON BLACK ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, INC.” NEW ORLEANS
JOHNSON, JON D. Director of “LOWER NINTH WARD YOUTH DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION, INC.” NEW ORLEANS
JOHNSON, JON D. Director of “THE NEW ORLEANS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, INC.” NEW ORLEANS
JOHNSON, JON D. Manager of “PROMED SERVICES, LLC” NEW ORLEANS
JOHNSON, JON D. Member of “JOHNSON FOODS AND RESTAURANTS, L.L.C.” NEW ORLEANS "

Really, love this concept but there is absolutely no follow up on your part, Johnson, Brown and maybe others are not reporting honestly by the looks of it....

Is there any reason assessor Errol Williams' report is not here?
